The Latina Center’s strength lies in our ability to empower Latina leaders as agents of social change. Over the years, The Latina Center’s programs have been integrated into our community and our Peer Leaders have become the educators in our community – Padres Educadores, Educadoras de Familia, Promotoras de Salud. We are a non-profit organization with the aim to connect, support, and empower Latina women working in tech.
There are numerous studies that suggest that parental expectations are associated with the achievement level of Mexican American students. Future research should continue to study the reasons why Mexican American students perform better when their parents expect them to do well in school. Furthermore, future research can also look into whether gender influences parental expectations. Additional literature has demonstrated that parent involvement also comes in the form of parent expectations.

Thus, many Cuban women found themselves in the United States as a result of their family. After the Cuban Missile Crisis, the ability for Cubans to immigrate with their families became limited as a result of strained US-Cuba relations.
